Alive Again

There is so much great music out there under the umbrella of the Christian genre.  Sometimes it makes it hard to pick out stuff to share with the church body.  I came across this song quite some time ago and have been keeping it on the back burner until this week.  The song is ‘Alive Again’ and if you listen to our local Christian radio affiliate you probably have heard it once or twice ; )  Matt Maher is also responsible for other great tunes like ‘Your Grace is Enough’.

A bulk of the material in the tune comes from a writing from St. Augustine in which he writes:

Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient, ever new, late have I loved you!  You were within me, but I was outside, and it was there that I searched for you.  In my unloveliness I plunged into the lovely things which you created.  You were with me, but I was not with you.  Created things kept me from you; yet if they had not been in you they would not have been at all.  You called, you shouted, and you broke through my deafness.  You flashed, you shone, and you dispelled my blindness.  You breathed your fragrance on me; I drew in breath and now I pant for you.  I have tasted you, now I hunger and thirst for more.  You touched me, and I burned for your peace.

I’ve heard the song many times, but never truly “heard” the words until watching him perform on here just now. Love it and look forward to it touching our hearts on Sunday! Good choice!!

Once again I’ve posted as Doug and I dont’ know why! As I mentioned earlier, “tech savvy” would not be a word I’d use to describe myself…you may want to rethink my helping out with the Sunday visuals (: ~Amber
