Step 1 Powerlessness: We Can’t Do It

Regardless of what it is that has got us by the tail we are all in desperate need of God. Some of us are struggling with chemical addictions, while others are battling depression. Some of us are caught up in porn addiction, while others of us are chronic liars. Some of us can’t control our anger while others of us are passive aggressive.

Whatever it is that is creating a divide in our minds between us and God the answer to a “me” problem is not going to be more me. I desperately need the power of Christ moving in my life and an awareness of the Grace that he has so mercifully given to me.

Here are some questions to chew over during the following week:

  • In what ways does my sin and addiction bother me?
  • How does the guilt I feel affect my life?
  • How does my sin and addiction to it affect the people around me?
  • What wont I do to recover and repent from my sin?
  • How have I tried to beat my sin on my own?
  • How many times am I going to fail to defeat my sin before I recognize the severity of the problem?
  • How long am I going to keep making excuses to myself and others for my behavior?
  • Do I believe that Jesus dies on the cross to set me free from sin? Or do I think he wants me to beat my sin alone and then come to the cross?

Spend some time with these considerations if you wish and take the answers to your accountability partner or sponsor if you have one.

Peace and Prayers
Dustin
